Biography

In the grand tradition of writers writing about themselves in the third person, Jamie McEwan gives below a short biography. Most of the hard facts are related in other sections. If you would like to know more about his fabulous wife, Sandra Boynton, click on over to her site, SandraBoynton.com.

With the help of friends and family, Jamie McEwan has managed to spend most of his 56 years as a canoe bum.

Over those years McEwan has collected a few respectable credentials: the lone Olympic medal (1972, Bronze); a return to the Olympics twenty years later with the help of stern-man Lecky Haller (1992); the stray World Cup (1988); the publication of six children’s books. By dint of hard work, perseverance, and the finest of ingredients McEwan has also managed to become a just passable cook. And, he has participated in river expeditions to Mexico, British Columbia, Bhutan, and Tibet. Recently he has discovered that he can scare himself just as thoroughly in a rapid just over the ridge from home, so he doesn't have to travel nearly as much.

By far his most substantial contribution to the world has been his four children, a collaborative venture with his wife, the writer and artist Sandra Boynton.

Mr. McEwan lives, and paddles, in Connecticut.
